Having friends visit and hosting guests always makes for a marvelous time. Whether it be for the holidays or just a friendly get together, fun and memorable times always abound. Decorating your guest suite on a budget ensures your guests are comfortable during their stay and your pocketbook stays comfortable as well.

Decorating a comfortable room and attached bathroom for your guests does not have to be expensive. A bathroom suite range varies in price, from whatever you can afford to…well, whatever you can afford!

Inexpensive wall decorations can be simple things. One idea is lining the window sill with children’s outgrown shoes with flowers planted in them, or stringing paper snowflakes across the top of a mirror.

Fixtures like sinks and toilets don’t have to be gold-plated for a guest. In fact, cheap bathroom suites are easy to come by.

Also, think about whether you would like to provide a bathtub for your guests, or just a shower cubicle? Either can be found for reasonable prices and in colors and shapes that will fit your space requirements.

Themes for the bathroom of either motifs or colors should be considered as well. Toilet seat covers and towels can match; you could also match the shower curtain and even the soap bars! Tiling in the bathroom could mimic ocean waves and you could paper the walls with an affordable sailboat pattern.

Buying a home is a big step for many people. It’s a goal that some have to work towards for many years. As you’re waiting till you’re ready to buy a house, here are some things you should be working toward.

Building Credit

One of the major things that will help as you’re applying for mortgages is having good credit. For at least one year before you start looking for homes and applying for a mortgage, be sure that you’re keeping your credit clean. If you don’t have credit, getting one credit card that you use but keep paid off every month is a great way to show consistent good credit. Also, be sure that all other debts are paid on time and if possible, get all other debts paid off.

Decide What You Want

While you’re waiting to buy your first home, decide on what features you want the most. Make a list of items with three columns: essential items (you will not even consider if it doesn’t have these items), preferred items, and would-be-nice-to-have items. This will be a big help to your real estate agent when finding houses for you to look at. By creating the list over time you’ll be able to add or change things as your preferences change. Remember, it’s not worth buying a place you’ll stay at for only a couple years, so be sure your preferences reflect the type of house you’ll want to live in 10 years down the road.

For many, home ownership is an inevitability. It’s believed that if you’re renting, it’s only because you are to the point where you can afford a home. That’s not always the case; there are many out there that choose to rent. Although it’s believed that renting is throwing away money, many believe it’s actually a wise financial decision. Here are a couple reasons why you may choose to rent instead of buy:

One of the main reasons why renting is preferable is that it’s flexible. Unlike home ownership, which involves a huge process to find someone to buy your home so you can afford a different place and can move, renters often have leases that only require a 30-day notice to the landlord in order to move. This is very helpful when you’re looking for a new job because you’re able to move anywhere instead of feeling like you must find a job in that area so you don’t have to move.

Renting Costs Less per Month

In many cases, the cost of rent and utilities is less than a comparable home if you owned it. For example, if you rent, what you pay often covers water, sewer, and garbage pickup. You don’t have to upkeep the place (i.e. fixing and repairing items) or take care of the lawn or garden. You also don’t pay property taxes or for insurance.

The main thing when it comes to buying a home is to be sure you are not purchasing more house than you can afford. If you want to buy a nice house, wait till you can afford it.
